Canon PowerShot G7 X Video Recording Limits

The Canon PowerShot G7 X has a maximum video recording time of 1 hour or file size limit of 4GB (whichever occurs first), but only for some formats. That limit is also dependent upon multiple factors like camera settings, media storage size, camera power, and internal camera temperature. See details and notes below for more information.

¹Time is approximate. Once the file size reaches 4GB, recording will stop automatically. ²If the recording time reaches 29 minutes, 59 seconds or the file size reaches 4GB (whichever occurs first), recording will stop automatically.
VGA (640 x 480) Formats	~60 minutes or 4GB¹
HD (1280 x 720) & FHD (1920 x 1080) Formats	30 minutes or 4GB²

Notes

In every recording format, recording will stop automatically once the file size reaches 4GB if the duration limit has not already been reached.
An increase of the camera’s internal temperature may cause recording to stop before the maximum recording time is reached.
